Hey guys, hopefully you got the level issues solved with the tables. This reminds me of when you built the 2nd floor office/workroom . You found that room not level with the roof and wondered why. You may want to check the level of your slab, most likely slopes towards the door at around 1/4 inch per foot for water drainage. With a long enough project (office room or table), I'm sure this could throw your level off just enough to notice. Keep up the great videos!

im a digital animator but i might have to buy a hammer to help

  • Allar Aaver
    Allar Aaver

Yeah i figured you were going to have a problem where the wood would end up bent later, even after leveling it, because it was stored outside and has been inside ever since you got it and since it probably held around 500 to liter of water inside it that evaporated. Next time, put the pieces in the shop for a few weeks to let them settle to the humidity level of your work surroundings, then go to level it.

FYI- the more you plane off of solid wood, the more likely you are to release forces in it causing it to warp- you should let it stabilize for 6-12 months in it's new environment, then take it back to the planer and take as little as possible off it to make it flat again. With the legs you have on them, the wood can expand and contract seasonally without causing any problems, so that part is good...

The next time you want to try legs like that just take some .1875 sheet , taper both ends from 8 inches to four inches. Hammer the hell out of it for appearance. Then bend it 90 degrees down the center. Just a suggestion.

@Alec Steele Why not cut the legs from plate steel, and run a bead of weld to join them? If you cut the pieces to 5" or 6" at the top, they would allow enough plate surface to drive in 3 or 4 lug bolts, and make a very Stout and stable leg. Just a thought! 🙂👍🏼

I love watching you guys but I think if you haven't heard, you need to know about NordVPN. They had a massive security breach. They have not handled it well. They knew about the breach for some time (up to 7 months) before acting. Consider other ad revenue till this is sorted out please. I know Tech stuff isn't really your wheel house but if you have questions about the validity look at JayzTwoCents a tech youtube content creator that has recently dropped them from his service.
